Cederberg, South Africa
Mountain & Table
A small-group adventure retreat in the Cederberg.
Eight guests. Two nights in nature. Shared meals, hidden rock pools and the quiet of the mountains.
Why Mountain & Table Exists
Shared adventure, shared meals, shared time away.
Mountain & Table was created to bring people together in one of the most beautiful mountain regions in Southern Africa.
For a weekend, we step away from busy routines and into something simpler — walking through sandstone valleys, swimming in clear rock pools, cooking and eating together around a long table, and sitting under some of the darkest skies in the country.
The retreat is intentionally small. Only eight guests join each trip so the experience remains personal, relaxed and social.
It’s not a resort and it’s not a survival camp. It’s simply a well-run weekend in nature.
What’s Included
Everything is designed to feel effortless from the moment you leave Cape Town.

Return transport to the Cederberg is included for all guests.
Private furnished bell tent
Each guest stays in a spacious canvas bell tent with a double-height mattress, memory foam topper and proper bedding.

Small-group experience

Two nights in the Cederberg
A chance to disconnect and reset in one of South Africa’s most remarkable mountain landscapes.
The Weekend Experience
Simple, social and unhurried.
Each retreat runs from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon.
After leaving Cape Town, the road climbs into the sandstone mountains of the Cederberg where we establish camp for the weekend. Days are spent exploring nearby trails, swimming in natural rock pools and moving at a relaxed pace through the landscape.
Evenings revolve around the table. On the first night we cook a traditional South African braai, sharing food around the fire as the sun sets behind the mountains.
The second evening is a pizza-making dinner, where guests prepare their own pizzas in the outdoor oven before gathering again around the table.
When night falls, the Cederberg reveals some of the darkest skies in the country.

Camp & Accommodation
Comfort in the middle of wild, beautiful surroundings.
Our camp is intentionally simple but comfortable.
Guests stay in spacious canvas bell tents ranging from 4m to 5m in diameter, furnished with double-height air mattresses topped with memory foam, proper bedding and soft lighting. Different sleeping configurations are possible depending on your preference. Guests can have their own tent or share with another guest, with layouts arranged to keep the camp comfortable and spacious.
The tents are designed to feel cosy and private while still keeping you close to the surrounding landscape.
At the centre of camp sits the long communal table where meals are shared and evenings naturally gather.
The Cederberg
Ancient sandstone, clear streams and dark skies.
Located a few hours north of Cape Town, the Cederberg is known for dramatic sandstone formations, hidden valleys and clear mountain streams.
The region is home to countless hiking routes and natural swimming pools formed over thousands of years by flowing water.
It is also one of the best places in South Africa for stargazing thanks to exceptionally dark skies.
Mountain & Table operates from carefully selected campsites within this landscape.
Who This Is For

You don’t need to be an experienced hiker or camper. Just someone who enjoys nature and the social side of a well-run weekend away.
